It’s been an incredibly hot and dry summer and there’s no sign of any changes. We’ve been cool in the shop and have enjoyed a lot of time with our customers. I’ve created a wonderful Smilebox presentation showing you the events that we had at Quilter’s Emporium this month…Strip Club, Block of the Week, Classes, Sew-Ins, and more!

Enjoy the slide show…all you have to do is click on this link.

June Fun at Quilter’s Emporium!~

2 Jul

We’ve had such a fun month at Quilter’s Emporium!  I created a Smilebox of some photos to share with you that will show you some of the fun that we have had.  Hope you enjoy it!   Just click on the link at the bottom of this post and it will take you right to the pictures.

Quilter’s Emporium kicked our new Wool Applique Club in May with a great turnout..and we were delighted to have Cynthia Regone speak at the club’s June meeting.  What a great job she did in answering all of our questions!

As always, tiaras and feather boas are in style at the monthly Strip Club!  At the June meeting we announced our first Strip Club Sew-In to be held in July.   Later on the same day, we will follow up with our second Jo Morton Sew-In!  Both are planned for July 23 and it’s going to be loads of fun!

Not for the faint hearted…we will have our Summertime UFO Pajama Party on July 16.  THAT’s going to be a great evening of eating, sewing, shopping, games, and last but not least….quilting!

It’s always a great day at Quilter’s Emporium…come and see!

2011 Spring Market was amazing!

19 May

I just got back from Spring Market at Salt Lake City and I have so much to show!  I’ve noticed a definite uptick in the appearance of new, young designers!  Fresh fabric designs, quilts and more!  Whew! It was a lot to take in!  We plan on including lots of new, fresh designs and quilts in the shop!  Would you like to see some pictures?   Amanda Murphy is a relatively new fabric designer for Robert Kaufman Fabrics.  Bright, youthful, juicy colors!   She has a wonderful new Block of the Month that we will start in September.  You’ll see pictures of that soon.

Meg from Crabapple Hill did it again!  Her designs are fabulous!  Halloween is big at Crabapple Hill and you will find her patterns at Quilter’s Emporium this week (as soon as the boxes are received from UPS)!  Calendulas Patterdrips Cottage was the focus quilt – great!  And then you know, she has designed some fabric for Lecien!  Congratulations Meg!

Witch's Boot

The Witch’s Boot was such a great design as well.  Can you tell I like Halloween?   I love that Meg has incorporated crayon work in her designs.

Rachel Ashwell has a new Shabby Chic fabric line, which I bought, and she has a new design book!   It was wonderful to meet her.

Of course Moda Fabrics is front and center with their great fabric and debuted several new block of the month programs.  We are incorporating one from Edyta Sitar, a shop favorite in our fall line up, and it’s not for the faint hearted!

Spring Air – Cool!

31 Mar

I know we are in Texas but it has actually been really warm these past few weeks!  Now THIS week…..whew!  It’s been soo cool!  Lover-ly~!  I have been working hard on new projects lately and I finally got the Featherweight that I bought at Festival last year out of the box.  Well, it’s only been, what 5 months!   Yikes!   Carefully I wound the bobbin then threaded the machine.  I put some scrap fabric in the machine and away we went.   Nice, nice stitch!  Still smells musty but sews like a dream!   Featherweight

And my sewing room is almost finished…well the construction is complete, but it’s not totally organized otherwise there would be photos on this blog.  But I’m getting there.  Joey, our new puppy helps were he can.  He’s just the cutest thing…

Here's Joey!

This picture is of Joey when we got him in December.   He was only 2 months old and just a bit over 2 lbs.  Yes, he only has one eye.  Don’t know what happened to the other one.  He has a permanent wink!  At Christmastime, his favorite place to rest was under the Christmas tree!  He was our little gift.

I promise to write more later on.  Gotta get busy again!

Prairie Women’s Sewing Circle

26 Jul

This is a bonus project that you will attach yo-yos to. So cute!

Saturday morning was so much fun–we now have twenty-nine members of the Prairie Women’s Sewing Circle!  I can’t wait to see the first “Show & Tells” next month and see how many of the Prairie Women use their “Make Do” piece of fabric.  If you missed the meeting, your pattern for the first quilt is behind the front counter with your name on it and I hope we see you on August 21 at 11am.  Holler if you have any questions.    ~~Pam

New Beginning Quiltmaking Graduates!

26 Jul

We just finished the July Beginning Quiltmaking Class and so many of the students decided to make their quilt samplers much larger!  Felicia decided to maker hers into a queen sized quilt!  (I think the “Quilt Bug” bit them…don’t you?)

Here are some of their projects.  We had a great time!!

Felicia's queen sized quilt top! Congratulations!

Lisa, has never sewn all! Great job!

Nancy, (who's in there somewhere) did a great job in making her's a 9 block sampler!

Melinda made her project just a bit bigger by adding two more blocks.

Another "Star" project!!

Melinda even had time this week to make a new purse!

July Strip Club!

26 Jul

We had a terrific turn out at Saturday’s Strip Club meeting!  Wonderful show and tells…here are some pics!

We had several new quilters from my most recent Beginning Quiltmaking Class show up and and they were surely inspired!  I’ll show you some of their projects in the next blog.  They sure were a fun group!

We even had our first visit from Gianna, Mark and Linda Towle’s grand daughter (Gianna’s Mommy came too!)  Here is our youngest “stripper”!  I’m sure her Gramma and Grampa will make a quilter out of her!

Gianna, our youngest Quilt Stripper!

and THIS is the back!!! Isn't it fabulous???

Here is the front of the quilt....Here is another quilt front....

Another great example of a pieced back! Love it!

More Show and Tells from some of our customers who are getting caught up on their Unfinished Projects!!!

Wonderful job and the backs are as beautiful as the front of the quilts!

Max selected the fabrics and made the current month’s strip club project.  We all think he did a terrific job!  Kudos, Max!

Pattern "Perfect Ten" Strip Club Project, sewn by Max Brewer.

Our Strip Club meets on the next to the last Saturday of each month at 9am.  It’s open to any one and the projects are suitable for beginners on up.  It’s a great way to make a quilt a month and have a year’s worth of gifts ready by the Holidays.  Everyone is welcome so plan to come to the next meeting on August 21 at 9 am.  It’s a “mystery quilt” in a way.  The fabrics for the August project are pink, blue and purple batiks!  Deadline for reserving August’s kit is August 2.
